The “App of the Decade” That Shook Up the Paint Category
Seeing is believing—especially when it comes to the right paint color. So Resource/Ammirati created a way for consumers to actually see Sherwin-Williams colors on their walls before they ever pick up a paintbrush.
ColorSnap is the world’s first mobile and on-demand color-matching suite of apps for iOS and Android mobile devices, iPad and even Google Glass. With it, the consumer snaps a picture that includes a color she likes, and the app translates it into a Sherwin-Williams paint color. She can then visualize the color on a selected surface, share her palette and find the nearest store. And in the latest iteration of the app, the Scan Color Number tool applies a Sherwin-Williams paint chip to a virtual room. This seamless melding of physical and digital gives consumers more color confidence, building brand loyalty and turning the nearly 150-year-old company into a category innovator.
Named “App of the Decade” by Advertising Age, ColorSnap has seen 45% and 36% growth respectively in app downloads and usage every year since launch. We’ve increased traffic across devices, driven visits to the stores, increased per-visit transaction value and improved customers’ overall satisfaction with the shopping experience.
