Visualizing a Colorful Sherwin-Williams Master Brand

Six years ago, Resource/Ammirati developed the wildly successful ColorSnap® iPhone app, an innovative digital color selector for Sherwin-Williams that was named “App of the Decade” by Advertising Age. In its latest iterations, ColorSnap allows the customer to match photos to paint colors, virtually paint their own walls, see colors in day and night light, browse painted scenes with expert color picks and more.

The ColorSnap app opened the door for the development of Sherwin-Williams’ new ColorSnap brand architecture. By leading the digital front, ColorSnap has grown into the Sherwin-Williams paint selection master brand—and it’s even inspiring and guiding the in-store experience. The enhanced in-store color-selection space, now called the ColorSnap Studio, features a redesigned color wall display that aligns seamlessly with the refreshed and integrated digital color-selection tools: ColorSnap Visualizer for iPhone and Android, iPad and Web.

Resource/Ammirati played an integral role in the branding and messaging for the brand new color system, bringing ColorSnap to life with photography, branding, logo development, messaging and additional color tool refinement. The refined tools now allow users to explore color in new ways: With the updated mobile app, customers can scan a new 2-by-3 inch color card with their smartphone for instant access to room scenes featuring that color and options for coordinating colors, among other features. ColorSnap Visualizer also inspires users by matching a color in a photo to a specific Sherwin-Williams color, allowing users to virtually paint a room or simply browse details on the full range of Sherwin-Williams colors. The updated ColorSnap for Web and iPad also feature inspirational room scenes that showcase expert color picks.
