Mobile: The Great Connector

, Jan. 9, 2012

Mobile technology has become the cornerstone of our daily lives. Consumers have the power to socialize, shop, game, read and perform thousands of other tasks in the palms of their hands, and our hunger for mobility continues to grow. Of the world’s 4 billion mobile phones, over 1 billion are smartphones, and that number continues to rise. By 2014, mobile Internet usage is expected to overtake desktop Internet usage, and in 2011, 50% of all local searches were done from a mobile device. On average, Americans spend almost 3 hours a day socializing on their mobile devices. That’s over twice the amount of time they spend eating.
Just as the connection between personal computers and the Internet changed the way we work and live, so too will evolving mobile technology. In our latest thinkable, Mobile: The Great Connector, we examine how mobile is changing the world and how brands can create immersive and OPEN mobile experiences to exceed consumers’ expectations.
